Dozens of bot fly larvae were in the eye
This accident happened with this person living in France, when he was working in the field near the horse and sheep farm. He felt that something had gone into his eye. Gradually, when the itching of the eye started increasing, he went to the doctor. After scanning the eyes, it was found that dozens of botfly larvae were present in the right eye of the person. These larvae were also in the conjunctiva of the person i.e. the lining of the eyelid and the white part of the eyes.

Doctors took out the flies with difficulty
After removing dozens of larvae, the doctors identified them as oestrus ovis i.e. sheep bot fly. If the larvae of flies reach inside the eyes, then it is not easy to remove them. Neither does washing the eyes make any difference. They are removed from the eyes using forceps as they are attached to the cornea by means of their oral hooks. In this person’s case, he turned out to be lucky, the infection was in only one eye.
